Prompt at 6.30 a.m. we were awake again (I’m about to think we had subscribed to that time…). This time it was really cold outside, the online weather information told something about temperatures below 0°C… Didn’t matter, a beautiful day laid before us anyway!

Our breakfast we had at the motel today. Ok, there wasn’t that much variety – in return the coffee was really weak… There were delicious donuts, toast and bagels, jelly, butter, some cheese and waffles, what Jennifer liked very much. But at least nobody needed to stay hungry, and it didn’t cost any extra fee.

Fortified by the breakfast we started today’s tour – the Grand Canyon was on. Going there via highway 180 was great, one could always be astonished how in only a few miles distance the countryside was changing. After about one and a half hours we’d reached the entrance to the National Park of the biggest canyon on earth. Already the view from the first stop was beyond words. And it didn’t get worse – this natural experience is simply unrivaled, overwhelming and hardly to describe with words or pictures. You must have seen this for yourself. We stayed there for some hours, and we loved it; the weather got constantly better, temperatures rose up to 20°C. Needless to say that occasionally some souvenirs were bought in the visitor’s center, and a short time before reaching the park’s exit we had some appetite for something to drink and an ice cream or a cookie – whereas the breakfast coffee has been really strong in comparison with this one (nearly unbelievable…)

After all we enjoyed the way back, using another route as in the morning – we went via highways 64 and 89. The landscape again was absolutely worth seeing. We made a stop at the Navajo Reservation at Little Colorado River Gorge what again brought some superior natural impressions. And Jennifer got some Indian jewelry. Then we went back to Flagstaff, after a total of one and a half hours we reached the motel.

For dinner we opted for a Chinese restaurant today, what was relatively easy to find and even to reach by a walk. The dishes were very tasty, besides a little downer – but well, one couldn’t foresee that. Nevertheless nobody stayed hungry, and after a part of our party had a visit at the motel bar we finished this evening by a picture show and some conversation.
