After a somewhat anxious night because of the frequently arriving and departing fire trucks and the thought about what the fire does we woke up around 7 a.m. We wanted to 'enjoy' the motel breakfast, but the selection was that poor, not even toast and jelly, just some sweet donuts and slurry coffee, so we decided to pack our bags for the daily tour and have breakfast at Denny's. There it tasted usually good and the day could start.

Departing from Denny's we immediately had the smell of burning woods again. At the very same moment several fire trucks with lights and sirens on were passing. And heaven was very hazy by the smoke again - what for sure can be seen on today's pictures.

Our target for today was Whiskeytown. No - it's not about some hard liquor there. Whiskeytown even isn't a real town (anymore), it's a lake, to be more exact a dammed lake. This area's treasure was the gold found there and nearby, today it's a lake with many recreation facilities - Whiskeytown Lake. Beautifully located you can go here for swimming, boating, hiking, it offers some cascades...

On the way back we picked up something to drink and filled up the car - prices were at $4.05 per gallon, means about 0.85€ per liter. We noticed that the sky had become considerably clearer in the meantime, no smell for burnt wood anymore. It seemed the 2.500 fire fighters did a good job and had the big fire under control.

The remaining afternoon was spent in the pool at about 104°F. After dinner and repairing some minor problems with the motel's internet access we enjoyed an easy evening before leaving tomorrow.
