After being wide awake and having some breakfast at the Buffet we started for today’s tour. The Hoover Dam was on today; the trip from Las Vegas took a little less than an hour. At the beginning the road went through the desert, somewhat later we encountered pay stations – the entry to Lake Mead Recreation Area was in front of us. Thanks to our America The Beautiful pass this was free of charge, and so we enjoyed the drive along the lake.

Then we reached the Hoover Dam. After a security check we parked our car in the parking garage and started visiting. The first thing we saw was a big construction site – a new bridge over the dam is currently being built. One could become dizzy already from watching…

After that we wanted to go to the Visitor Center. Again security scanners – and as we passed those we realized that we hadn’t needed to spend our time waiting here: they already want to get paid for entry into the Visitor Center! No thanks, without ourselves. So we went back outside, took a walk over the dam and visited it. At the end a short visit to the gift shop, then we went for our way back. This was done after about 40 minutes; we were back at our hotel about 1:30 p.m. and had the whole afternoon available now.

After an hour resting we wanted to visit the Strip again. But with today’s temperatures of 40°C this was nothing for doing it by feet, so we took the car. Thus we also could see everything – and we didn’t need to sweat. Once we reached the end of the Strip we turn around and drove back at the other side. Then we again made a short stop at the gift shop – the juniors needed an additional travel bag. And we also found something to drink for the evening…

Back at the hotel we made another walkabout, we wanted to visit some areas we hadn’t seen until now. Among those was the kid’s area where we at the end attended one of the free circus acts. The artist could twist herself, really amazing…

Then we went to the Buffet for our last diner in Las Vegas, the meals were tasty, and also the ice cream to conclude the diner was delicious. After that we enjoyed a uneventful evening with watching some photos and having some beer and wine.
