For today we had planned some relaxing. Jennifer even took advantage of it and slept until 8.30 a.m. Then we checked the motel breakfast - today it wasn't as crowded as yesterday. Well saturated we could start the day - but first we checked emails at the motel room and enjoyed a jump into the pool.

Then we had the two local trading post on the agenda - still had some souvenirs on our to-do list. After that we took a short ride to the Glen Canyon Dam, the first dam retaining the Colorado River. From the bridge one has a wonderful sight as well at Lake Powell as at the Colorado River.

Now we again drove the US 89 southbound - yesterday we had spotted another landmark: Horseshoe Bend. Here the Colorado River winds through the plateau and can be beautifully looked at. Indeed it's only a short hike there - about 0.5 miles, but at 95°F and a path more remembering the sandy beach of the Baltic Sea than Arizona even this can be kind of cumbersome. So Ines and Jennifer decided to wait at a shady place half way down while Ronny was taking the second half of the way by himself. Arrived at the river he was compensated for the efforts with a breathtaking view - especially as one is here totally near the rim of the plateau, with no fences, that's why being careful is of highest priority here when approaching the rim to take amazing pictures: down to the river it is 1.000 feet... But even this was handled without problems, and after an energy-sapping and sweaty way back the first thing to do was to raid our water supply.

Afterwards we took another 20 miles south to some sales booth of Native Americans which we spotted the day before to get some more souvenirs. On the way back to Page we stopped at Subway because we got a little hungry. After a visit to the Wal-Mart where Jennifer got some new sneakers we drove back to the motel.

During the afternoon we spent some more time at the pool, played cards... As said - this day was thought for some relaxing.

For dinner we wanted to go to Slacker's which was advertised as awesome burger and sandwich restaurant. Unfortunately it was a self-service restaurant like McDonalds - so we finally landed at Denny’s again and enjoyed the dinner. Afterwards we had an easy last evening in Page.
